Never Underestimate The Power Of Marketing
If our kids only knew the "lemonade" they have been getting is just plain ole water and stevia. We started this tradition back when they began using sippy cups, to avoid some of the more sugary drinks out there today. With child diabetes reaching epidemic proportions, we had to really ask ourselves what we were going to do to steer clear of some of the known causes of the disease, namely the refined sugar that has found its way into just about every processed food product out there today--most of all kids' foods. Stevia is great because it is something like 50,000 times sweeter than sugar, so you only need a drop or two per 4 oz drink and the kids get a nice, sweet taste out of it. Plus, it's from an all natural source and not chlorinated sugar or some other chemistry experiment. Best of all, unlike sugared products our kids eat, stevia doesn't cause crankiness, spikes (and then crashes) in energy or other episodes that can drive parents out of their minds. It's pretty hard to compete with Mother Nature if you're trying to make a product that has no side-effects.
